My international journey and how I ended up living in Vietnam for 5 years
Starting in college, I experienced overseas living as a French language learner in Cannes, France and then spent the next few years exploring Asia as an English teacher in China, while I learned Mandarin Chinese.
In between, I picked up master’s degree in Asian studies from the University of Hawaii and then spent another year teaching in Seoul, Korea.
From 2013-2017 I was working in the Twin Cities, Minnesota for a couple of companies before I felt the urge to pursue an exciting life abroad.
So in 2017 I decided to sell all my belongings such as my St. Paul house and Toyota truck and moved to Southeast Asia with the idea of creating a homebase in Danang, Vietnam.
By 2019, I moved to Saigon, Vietnam where I worked in sourcing and manufacturing.
Living and working in Vietnam, as an expat, were great experiences because of the plenty of dating oportunities and the affordable and accessable nightly entertainment.
On top of this, Vietnam living expenses are so low that a single person can live well on a $1,000 USD monthly budget.
Saigon offers plenty to indulge in, including street food, beer halls, and cheap restaurants.
Just before Covid, I dated and fell in love with a woman who is now my wife.
A couple of years later, we had our daughter and made the move back to Florida, USA in March, 2023 where I work in global trade compliance for an international supply chain company.
Being state-side once again, I don’t have any immediate plans to travel overseas at the moment.
Right now, I am focused on my career, improving myself, and entreprenuership.
I hope you follow along!
